Newsletter 2/2018

Dear readers,

The Alexander von Humboldt Professorship has been bringing outstanding international researchers to Germany for ten years now. And we have been celebrating this special event in recent months under the motto "Coming to change"! ‒ not only at the award ceremony for the 2018 Humboldt Professorships but also in the current issue of our magazine Humboldt Kosmos and with a film that marks this milestone by showing how the research conducted by Humboldt Professors is changing our day-to-day lives.

Just how important it is to communicate the benefits of science to as many people as possible was also stressed by Germany's President Steinmeier at our Annual Meeting in Berlin. Members of the Foundation's International Advisory Board are also calling for more dialogue between the research community and society: "Gone are the days when scientists could afford to communicate only with one another", they note.

You can learn about all this and more in this newsletter. We wish you an enjoyable read!
